The Weekend: Spiritz Mirchi Live Big Tap Fest 24.06.2017 The 24th of June will be the day of this phenomenal music fest that brings together some of India's best bands. It will be hosted in JLN stadium in New Delhi and will take place from 2 pm onwards on both the 24th and the 25th of June. Papon, Fossils and Brothers in Arms will be performing on the first day while Parikrama, Faridkot and Indi Graffiti will be performing on the second day. Papon is the stage name of the famed Assamese musician, Angarag Mahanta. He not only sings but also composes and produces music. He also founded a folk-fusion band called Papon and The East India Company, for which he is the lead singer. Some of his famous songs are "Labon ka karobar" from Befikre (2016), "Bulleya" from Sultan, "Moh moh ke dhage" from Dum Laga Ke Haisha, "Humnava" from Hamari Adhuri Kahani (2015), "Lakeerein" (a poem by Gulzar) from Kya Dilli Kya Lahore, "Sun ri Bavli" from Lakshmi, "Sun le re" and "Khudse" from Madras Cafe (2013), "Kyon" from Barfi!, "Jiyein kyun" from Dum Maro Dum. From the above, it is clear to see that Papon will be the main event of the fest and accordingly tickets for the first day will be more expensive. Fossils is also a famed rock band from Kolkata but they mostly perform Bengali songs. Parikrama is quite possibly the most famous Indian Rock Band. They've created iconic songs that have put them in the history books. The most amazing thing about this Delhi-based band is that they do not care for commercialising their music. They've never released an album, even though they've made more than enough songs to make many. For them, it's all about the music. They rarely even record their songs in a studio, most of the available music online being live performances. And all of this is available to the public for free. They encourage their fans to download their songs. Being formed in the year 1991, they've now performed in over 3000 gigs. So, save the date to see some of India's best musicians perform live while an assortment of food stalls keep your tummy happy. Venue: Weightlifting Auditorium, JLN Stadium (Gate number 2) Time: 2 pm to 10 pm Ticket Price For Day 1 (24th June): INR 2000, 1500 & 799 Ticket Price For Day 2 (25th June): INR 499 Explore More: https://www.delhipedia.com/Home/Category/Event

FILM FEST: Habitat Film Festival 2017 Hero. Heroine. Love at first sight. Families are from different classes/caste/religion/etc. They overcome obstacles to make their love work. Then they have relationship issues. Take a break. Realise they can't live without each other. Get back together after dramatic stuff. Also, includes a bunch of songs so that the movie can make a bunch of money on the music too. A lot of dancing. In random places. Like really random. On a train. On a bus. Hell, probably on a plane as well. Mustard fields. Gardens. Foreign lands with trademark aerial shots to show the heroine's saree in full flourish. Also to show off the area to promote tourism of said place. Possibly because the producers got paid to promote that place as well. Also, way too many changes of clothes for a song that last for 5 mins. Like seriously. Way too many clothes. This. We've had way too many of these. Most movies these days are the same. Just twist the story a bit. Change the year that it's set in. Change the actors. Change the location. Rinse and repeat. Bollywood's best formula. Take a break from this and watch more meaningful movies. Head over to the ongoing film festival at the Indian Habitat Center. See movies that discuss issues in our society. Movies that will tell you about the real India. No running around in lush gardens and dramatic airport scenes. Real acting. Real feelings. All done with amazing filmmaking skills using satire and wry humour all the while to tackle real issues in our world. In India. Movies that will not just educate but inspire you as well. And here's the best part. It's free for all. When: May 19th - May 28th, 2017 Where: India Habitat Centre (IHC), Lodhi Road, New Delhi Entry: Free (first come first serve basis) Explore More: https://www.delhipedia.com
